Swimming at a sandy beach on the islet of Lobos

The main beach on Lobos Islet, north of Fuerteventura, is the perfect place to start the day before setting off to explore this almost untouched island covering 4.5 square kilometres. It’s also a fine way to round off a walking tour of an islet that can only be reached by boat. Whichever option you choose, you’re sure to be in for a treat, thanks to the generally calm – and sometimes even glassy – Atlantic, the almost white sand and a legendary tranquillity stretching for over a kilometre.

The best beach on Lobos with views of Fuerteventura

La Concha beach is just a 10-minute walk from the jetty linking it to Corralejo and a little over 15 minutes from the small port of Lobos. Its semi-circular shape and the protection afforded by the bay play a key role in the clarity of its waters, which are often a melting pot of blues. On a distinctly desert-like islet with almost constant sunshine, cooling off in this spot, alone or with others, brings you back to life. So much so that some camp here or return soon after.
