Tostón Lighthouse

Tostón Lighthouse

This spot offers crystal-clear lagoons perfect for a family swim and spectacular sunsets, as well as a museum dedicated to traditional fishing.

Lagoons with crystal-clear waters

At the north-western tip of Fuerteventura, the Tostón Lighthouse completes the triangle that guides navigation in the Strait of Bocaina, alongside the lighthouses of La Pechiguera (Lanzarote) and Martiño (Islote de Lobos). This is a must-visit spot north of El Cotillo, as it is surrounded by the famous crystal-clear lagoons protected by reefs, ideal for safe family swimming and spectacular sunsets over the sea.

Three lighthouses in one

The Tostón Lighthouse reflects the evolution of maritime signalling like no other, as it preserves the structures of the three lighthouses that were successively commissioned: the first next to the main building in 1897, a second tower, 13 metres high, in 1955, and the most modern tower, 37 metres high, which began operating in 1986. The main building houses the Museum of Traditional Fishing in Fuerteventura. However, this centre has been open to the public only intermittently since its opening.
