Catching waves at one of Fuerteventura’s best spots

Bristol-Shooting Gallery offers some of the best waves on the island of Fuerteventura. For this reason, the area is usually one of the most popular for surfing. Located just ten minutes from the tourist hub of Corralejo, in the north of the island, it is a spot that can even be seen from the town centre itself. There are no buildings or amenities nearby, but you can park in the immediate vicinity without any problem.

The Bristol-Shooting Gallery wave breaks as a right- and left-hand peak over a volcanic seabed, with the left-hand break being the one that has made it famous. The wave forms several very fast sections with crystal-clear barrels. The best waves occur at high tide with a N-NE-NW swell during the winter months, but it can also be surfed the rest of the year. Although there are several entry points, on days with strong swell it is safest to enter from the end of the wave, where there is a small bay.
