The most consistent spot for surfing in Fuerteventura

El Burro is the most reliable spot during the summer in terms of consistency. Although it is a very beginner-friendly spot, depending on the prevailing wind and wave conditions, it is perfect for water sports or simply for getting started in surfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding or kitesurfing. Getting to El Burro is very easy as it is a long beach of sand and volcanic rocks situated in the north-east of the island of Fuerteventura, just a few kilometres from the tourist centre of Corralejo and with plenty of parking spaces at the roadside.

El Burro mainly has a left-hand wave, as the right-hand break is considerably shorter. The spot is very forgiving, making it perfect for beginners, although a minimum of experience is required to surf the break. On days with big waves, you need to be careful as you could end up on the volcanic reef. The best conditions are at low tide and in summer due to the consistent N-NE wind, although in winter you can catch good waves with S-SW-W winds.
