Lobos' right wing
The longest wave in the Canary Islands for surfing
On the south-west coast of Lobos, a small islet situated to the north of the island of Fuerteventura, lies the longest wave in the Canary Islands. The Lobos right-hander is an unusual wave, but when the conditions are just right, it becomes a perfect wave in terms of length, variety of sections and quality. To reach the spot, you need to take a boat from the tourist centre of Corralejo to the island of Lobos and then walk along a path from the port for about an hour, circling the Caldera volcano.
A surf spot for all levels on the island of Lobos
The right-hand break on Lobos Island is between 300 and 500 metres long and runs along the coast until it disappears into the sea. It is consistent, with sections for radical manoeuvres and others that are faster. Its variety of sections means the wave offers opportunities for all levels. The chances of finding the best conditions increase during the months of October to March, with S-SE-SW-E winds and W-NW-N swells with waves of one to four metres. You can enter the water from a boat or by walking over the volcanic reef, always wearing water shoes.
