A paradise for nature lovers and sports enthusiasts

An iconic beach on Fuerteventura, featured on so many postcards representing the Canary Islands, Risco del Paso is situated on the southern coast of the Jandía Isthmus, in the municipality of Pájara. As it is traditionally a windy area, especially during the summer months, it is ideal for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. This is why there are numerous schools and specialist shops in the area. However, even when there is no wind, or only a gentle breeze, Risco del Paso offers a unique experience of sun and beach, a swim in calm, turquoise and crystal-clear waters, and a long stroll along white sands that stretch to the horizon.

Nature in its purest form

The beaches of Jandía, between Costa Calma and Morro Jable, can be explored on foot, practically without interruption, for some 20 kilometres. Risco del Paso is located in the southern part of Sotavento Beach, which is fed by sand from the dune system and ancient fossilised beaches. As this is a flat area, the tides create lagoons and salt marshes across a wide coastal plain, featuring both xerophilous vegetation (adapted to living in sandy conditions) and halophilic vegetation (tolerant of salinity), and providing a refuge for dozens of species of endemic and migratory birds.
